From the office of Mayor George Schloegel

In the coming days we will gather together to celebrate South Mississippi’s triumphant recovery from the worst natural disaster our nation has ever seen.

The road has been long. The ground of recovery has been gained in inches, and our success has been paid for in blood, sweat and tears.

However, today that success, that progress, is evident on every street corner and in every community along our Coast.

Each one of our 11 cities and three counties have their own story to tell, their own reasons to celebrate, and this Sunday we are planning to gather together as one to reflect on where we have been and to celebrate our amazing achievements as one Coast.

We would like to invite you to join Gov. Haley Barbour and many others, this Sunday at 3 p.m. in front of City Hall in downtown Gulfport, as South Mississippi celebrates its triumphant recovery five years after Hurricane Katrina.

Sincerely,

George Schloegel

Mayor
