Here’s what’s happening in Gulfport this weekend

Memorial Day 2011

The Gulf Island's Waterpark will kick off the season with a special appearance by Freddie from Nickelodeon's iCarly on Saturday.

Don't miss Sounds by the Sea, Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Centennial Plaza. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.

The Gulfport Sportsplex and Goldin Park will host the annual Memorial Day Softball Tournament. There are 76 teams registered for the event. Games begin on Friday and wrap up Sunday afternoon. Teams are traveling from parts of Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida.

 

The Bayou View Complex will host a local all-star team softball tournament with 38 teams from around the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Games begin Friday night and wrap up Saturday.

 

Splashpads are open and operational at West Side Park, Goldin Park and Gaston Point. The swimming pool opens at Francis X Collins Fitness Center and will be remain open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., both days. The regular schedule for the summer will begin Tuesday morning.
Enjoy great cuisine and fabulous nightlife all weekend long in our completely remodeled downtown.

The South Mississippi Soccer Club is hosting a large event this weekend and will use facilities at the Sportsplex as well as the soccer facilities at County Farm Road. More than 100 teams are expected to compete.

 

Experience world-class fishing with one of our charter captains or try your luck from one of our public fishing piers.
Shop Gulfport: No matter what you are searching for, chances are good that it can be found at one of our many retail outlets near U.S. 49 and I-10.
Take advantage of this weekend's fantastic weather, and get out and enjoy Gulfport.
